Eleanor is 3 pounds and 15 ounces today! She is just one little ounce away from four pounds! She maintained her temperature in the bassinet over night and she put on an ounce... she is doing great! The doctors moved us out of our special room into the main room. She can socialize with her friends again. She is still super alert and her eyes are bigger and brighter. I think she will keep her blue eyes like her mama. Everything else about her is all Robert.
Eleanor also gave all the doctors and nurses more chocolates. They are really appreciative.
We are in a celebrating mood at home. We have had so much positive change lately that we decided to open Champagne! Cheers!

Today we received a call from the NICU at about 10:00 am which is makes all kinds of things come to mind. But this was a good call, they asked us to bring clothes for baby girl because they put her in her step 3 bed. The last phase! Now we just hope that she can regulate her temp well so she can stay in her new bed.
We were so excited to get this call and then Emily's mind went racing and she just couldn't figure out what to dress her in.
We made it to the NICU just in time for her feeding. We finished the feeding and then the nurse said it was time to change her "pamper," and put on a fresh outfit. Changing the pamper was not so bad but getting Eleanor into the pj's was not easy. After 15 min of getting feet and arms in we finally buttoned up the clothes and as the last button snapped, a fresh smell came from the pamper. She made a poopie.
Hopefully we will get better at dressing her.
She is also getting bigger. Now 3 lbs 14 ounces.

After a few days of being stuck around 3 lbs 10 oz and 3 lbs 11 oz, Eleanor reached 3 lbs 12 oz.
When we walked into the nicu, Eleanor was sitting at the nurses desk chatting with all the nurses.. She was being held and being fed by one of the nurses who had taken her with her to the desk... so adorable!
We took her back to her room and Robert finished feeding her. She spit up a lot, but we handled it well.

Eleanor is now 3 pounds 11 ounces!!!!
She looks bigger and much more filled out! the doctors tell us that she is one of the best eaters in the nicu! She is still battling with reflux, but they tell us it is getting better. Some days we see a lot of it and other days we don't... It is very frustrating and very scary. We will feel better about it after taking the CPR class this week.
Eleanor had the second in her series of eye exams today. her first exam showed normal, correct development of her retna and veins in the eyes. The second exam is exactly like the first. She will continue with the testing until the opthomologist is satisfied that irregular growth of the veins is not a possibility.

Eleanor has reached 3 pounds and 7 ounces!!! She is now one pound bigger than her birth weight! She is gaining slowly, but steadily and that makes us happy! She had her monthly measurements taken today. Eleanor is now 16.5 inches long (born 12 3/4") and her head is now 11 inches in diameter (up from 9.5")!
Eleanor has gotten better with breast feeding and we are starting to use the bottle less. The doctors say this should help with her reflux.
The nicu's March of Dimes volunteer, Evelyn, is starting to work on a new campaign that will promote fathers holding their babies skin to skin. She asked if she could use a photo of Robert kangarooing with Eleanor for an island-wide released poster. We are happy to support the March of Dimes so Robert and Eleanor may be the poster daddy/daughter for Puerto Rico! We'll let everyone know if it works out.
